2017 NFL Mock Draft – FIVE Rounds
Round One (1-20) | Round One (21-32) | Round Two | Round Three | Round Four | Round Five
Round One (Picks 21-32):
21. Detroit Lions
2016 First Round Pick: Taylor Decker, Ohio State (16)
Lions 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Haason Reddick, Outside Linebacker, Temple
There is some talk of the Lions taking a TE here, and there is some logic to that… they would love to run out of 12 personnel, but there are a lot of tight ends in this draft. They have added two linebackers through free agency, but what then need is a young playmaker to develop.
22. Miami Dolphins
2016 First Round Pick: Laremy Tunsil, Mississippi (13)
Dolphins 2017 Mock Draft Selection: David Njoku, Tight End, Miami
The Dolphins deserve a tight end that “loves football”. If you wonder why teams do all of the intense interviews with players before they draft them, look no further than Jordan Cameron, a player that lacked the heart to live up to his potential. With Njoku, they get a tight end that will become a big part of their offense.
23. New York Giants
2016 First Round Pick: Eli Apple, Ohio State (10)
Giants 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Adoree Jackson, Cornerback, USC
The Giants are a difficult team to figure out, probably because they have a lot of new pieces that are just starting to come together. The offense let them down all year, but they also could use some help in their secondary. Jackson would also contribute immediately in the return game and could be included in a few offensive packages.
24. Oakland Raiders
2016 First Round Pick: Karl Joseph, West Virginia (14)
Raiders 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Jordan Willis, Defensive End, Kansas State
The Raiders defense played better after a rough start, but still needs work. Their offense bailed them out, and the defense is very talented, but very young. A major contributor to defensive performance might have come from poor playcalling and in-game decisions, but they definitely have a problem getting to the opposing quarterback. Willis was a player not talked a lot about in the draft process, but he was extremely productive and showed excellent athleticism throughout the draft process.
25. Houston Texans
2016 First Round Pick: Will Fuller, Notre Dame (21)
Texans 2017 Mock Draft Selection: DeShone Kizer, Quarterback, Notre Dame
The Texans have an elite defense, and have other needs, but will grab the best available player. Harris is an exceptional pass rusher, and can be used in various ways in their creative defensive scheme.
26. Seattle Seahawks
2016 First Round Pick: Germain Ifedi, Texas A&M (31)
Seahawks 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Kevin King, Cornerback, Washington
The Seahawks love to have tall, lengthy corners on the outside, and Kevin King fits that exactly. As the draft process has progressed, he has gained a lot of momentum as scouts watched tape on the other two stars in that secondary at Washington, and has validated what was shown on tape at the combine.
27. Kansas City Chiefs
2016 First Round Pick: None
Chiefs 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Reuben Foster, Inside Linebacker, Alabama
The Chiefs are the beneficiaries of the Foster drop here, filling their primary need on defense. Foster is an outstanding prospect, but enters the draft with several red flags, causing teams very early to shy away.
28. Dallas Cowboys
2016 First Round Pick: Ezekiel Elliott, Ohio State (4)
Cowboys 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Chidobe Awuzie, Cornerback (Safety), Colorado
How the Cowboys have been so effective on defense this year with so many personnel issues is a credit to their defensive coaching staff. Still, you can’t think that will last forever with limited depth. They have lost most of their secondary to free agency, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Awuzie is the type of defensive back that teams are scrambling for, as he can play multiple positions and cover all types of receivers.
29. Green Bay Packers
2016 First Round Pick: Kenny Clark, UCLA (27)
Packers 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Cam Robinson, Offensive Tackle, Alabama
The Packers have lost some big pieces to their offensive line, and generally like to let the draft come to them, as they are often drafting low in each round. There is some discussion that Robinson would be better moved inside, but regardless, they have needs at both spots.
30. Pittsburgh Steelers
2016 First Round Pick: Artie Burns, Miami (FL) (25)
Steelers 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Jarrad Davis, Outside Linebacker, Florida
The Steelers’ defense came together as the year progressed, and the linebacker core seemed to have found a cohesiveness after changing coordinators. They have needs on the offensive side of the ball, but getting one more piece to their linebacker core would be ideal. Davis is rangy and able to both get into the backfield and drop into coverage.
31. Atlanta Falcons
2016 First Round Pick: Keanu Neal, Florida (17)
Falcons 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Forrest Lamp, Offensive Guard, Western Kentucky
The Falcons are putting up a lot of points, and have had an underrated offensive line, but do have a need at guard. Forrest Lamp would turn their offensive line into a major strength.
32. New Orleans Saints (from Patriots)
2016 First Round Pick: None
Saints 2017 Mock Draft Selection: Charles Harris, Defensive End (OLB), Missouri
Alex Okafor is a great start for the Saints with the linebacker core make-over, and they continue to add to it with Charles Harris, an outside linebacker that they can use in space to get pressure on opposing QB’s.
